1. Reports to the Drilling Superintendent. Represents the company at the well site, in dealing with and overseeing the daily operations of the drilling contractor engaged in drilling and completion of a well.
  2. Never makes assumption. Ensures adequate control and supervision of operations is achieved.
  3. Prepare the loadout list for each well. The list must be sent at least 7 days before expected spud.
  4. Keep an inventory of rental material on the rig and send a daily update to the Ops Engineer.
  5. Prepare end of well material reconciliation and all associated documentation for all wells in a timely manner.
  6. Supervises the Material man to ensure that equipment is being inventoried properly and the paper work required is prepared accurately.
  7. Is responsible for the preparation of site specific HSE requirements in liaison with Drilling Contractor HSE rep
  8. Ensures that all work is done efficiently, safely, and in accordance with approved Drilling Manual, established company practices and procedures, applicable laws and government rules and regulations.
  9. Develops and issues verbal and written instructions to the contractor Toolpusher for desired changes in operations.  Monitors the operations to ensure the required changes are performed.
  10. Issues instructions to service companies for work required and monitors the operations to ensure compliance.
  11. Attend the bi-weekly HSE meeting in the field.
  12. Monitors the rig activity and plans for the timely arrival of personnel, materials, equipment and services at the rig.
  13. Prepare surface and production casing and cementing programs.  Reviews and recommends changes to the cementing contractor proposals.
  14. Prepare and issue Well Discussion within 7 days of rig release.
  15. Issues instructions in emergency situations.  Conducts emergency drills, BOP drills, etc. as often as deemed necessary, at least once per week.
  16. In conjunction with the Drilling Superintendent, plans for the timely arrival of required personnel, materials, equipment and services at the wellsite. Prepares material requisitions for items as required.
  17. Personally inspects all tools and wellhead equipment for size and pressure rating on arrival at the rig site.  Assures that the proper tools and back-ups, if required, are available on location and ready for use.  Ensures that every piece of equipment that enters the hole is measured and that the drillstring length is accurately known.
  18. Inspects the drilling equipment frequently to assure that it is being maintained in accordance with terms and conditions of the contract.  Discusses with the contractor Toolpusher, actions required to correct problems noted and follows up to see that corrective action is taken.
  19. Recommends ways to reduce cost and improve safety.  Cost analysis and / or breakeven analysis should be prepared whenever applicable.
  20. Maintains current cost control records of wellsite expenditures.
  21. Participates with the Drilling Engineer and Drilling Superintendent in revising / editing the drilling prognosis whenever necessary.
  22. Ensures that the operations are properly documented on the Tour Report and the Daily Drilling Report.  Prepares transfer documents, receiving documents, LOT spreadsheet / graphs, casing and cementing reports, cementing plug reports, casing tallies, BHAs, etc to ensure well records are accurate.
  23. Responsible for the entire wellsite drilling operations.  Senior authority for all personnel on the rig site.
  24. Personally investigates accidents, incidents and equipment failures that occur on wellsite.  Supports Contractor Loss Control/HSE Rep
  25. Perform periodic evaluations of Material man and Radio Operator.

 

Job Description Junior Drilling Supervisor

… reports to the Senior Drilling Supervisor

Undertakes roles as directed by the Senior Drilling Supervisor and aids him in drilling operation as required.  His responsibility is as directed by the senior Supervisor.

  1. Promote safety and environmental awareness complying with IADC & Local regulations.
  2. Build a team spirit at the well site and encourage services companies to be team players.
  3. Monitors rig to optimise operations to meet well duration targets under the supervision of the Senior Drilling Supervisor.
  4. Provide accurate details of reports both verbal and written.
  5. Maintain audible filing system of reports and documents at the well site.
  6. Physically inspects and records serial numbers of all equipment upon arrival on location.
  7. Updates daily and maintains accurate inventory, rental and consumable sheets at the well site.
  8. Prepares Daily Drilling report, collects tour sheets and all service company daily report sheets.
  9. Prepares weekly and monthly reports in a timely fashion.
  10. Transmits reports on a daily basis to office once reviewed by the Senior Drilling Supervisor.
  11. Prepares mail to be sent to ofice on a daily basis.
  12. Attends morning meetings at the well site providing comments and suggestions.
  13. Prepares and submits instructions to the Tool Pusher on evening events and expectations.
  14. Immediately alerts SDS with any changes or problems on well site during tour.
