All regular evaluation techniques such as wireline logging, MWD logging, mud logging, etc. may be used in slim wells. In addition on-site core evaluation is available commercially for continuously cored wells, this is covered in the overview.
Mud logging is completely conventional for small wells. The only point of note is that the cost of the kick detection system (KDS) (and vibration monitoring system if required) can be reduced if it is incorporated in the mud logging service. However, not all mud logging contractors have kick detection software of sufficiently high standard for use in slim wells.
