Responsibilities (Planning, Supervision and Verification) during abandoment:

Drilling Engineer

The Drilling Engineer shall be responsible for preparing the Suspension or Abandonment Programme and for ensuring that:

the final well status meets the statutory requirements regarding zonal isolation

primary well control is in place and shall not deteriorate with time

economical use is made of rig time in placing and testing cement plugs.

Drilling Supervisor

The Drilling Supervisor shall ensure that the requirements for the suspension or abandonment detailed in the Abandonment Programme are carried out by the Drilling Contractor in accordance with the standards and procedures contained in this manual document.
