Best practices for running a recoverable surveying instrument:
- the time drillstring is set on slips shall be minimised. The pipe should be picked up on elevators as soon as possible after making connection and inserting survey instrument in pipe
- the pipe shall be continuously reciprocated while running and retrieving the survey instrument
- the pipe shall not be landed in slips while taking survey (the elevators must be placed 2-3 mt above rotary to leave the bit 5-7 m off bottom), and reciprocation must be resumed as soon as possible firstly by slacking off on the pipe
- the survey depth for all reports and calculations shall be the measured depth of the surveying instrument’s angle unit at the time of survey.
