The Cement Programme gives a detailed description of any non standard operations which are proposed. It shall also outline risks involved and precautions to be taken. (Reference shall be made to the Drilling Programme as appropriate.)

Well Status

Previous Casing

The Cement Programme shall include:

  • diameter (inches)
  • weight (lbs/ft)
  • grade
  • coupling
  • shoe measured and vertical depth (ft)
  • leak-off test value (ppg).

Hole Size

The Cement Programme shall include:

  • hole diameter (as drilled / opened etc.)
  • hole depth
  • calliper available ‑ if so, state tool type
  • hole diameter, or volume if appropriate, from calliper compared with theoretical diameter/volume
  • annular and casing volumes used for calculation
  • bottomhole static and circulating temperature.

 

Casing To Be Run

The Cement Programme shall include:

  • diameter (inches)
  • weight (lbs/ft)
  • grade
  • coupling
  • shoe depth (ft)
  • float collar depth (ft)
  • DV collar depth, ECP depth (ft)
  • hang-off point.

Mud Characteristics

The Cement Programme shall include:

 

  • mud type
  • mud gradient
  • rheology and gel strengths.

Open Hole Pressure Profile

The Cement Programme shall include a brief statement of pressure profile identifying any anomalous gradients, top overpressures, depleted formations, shale or expected packed of section etc.

Fluid Distribution/Top Hydrocarbon

Regarding casing to be run, the Cement Programme shall include a brief statement of fluids in penetrated reservoirs including vertical depth of top hydrocarbon (e.g. water, gas, or oil ‑ if unknown ‑ state unknown!).

Cementation Design Details

TOC

Regarding TOC, the Cement Programme shall include:

  • depth of required top of good cement, CBL/VDL/USIT to be run in critical cases or for DST with 30% draw down (state upper and lower limit if applicable)
  • “In accordance with programme: YES/NO”
  • reason for any planned change.

Hydrostatic Head/Overbalance

Regarding hydrostatic head/overbalance, the Cement Programme shall include:

  • identification of calculated positions/depths of all components (top connection) of cementation, i.e. spacers, scavenger, slurry lead and tail
  • minimum overbalance during cement job, at what stage it occurs, and which sand/interval will experience this minimum overbalance
  • detail floating and collapse during cementation (surface casing).

Rheology calculations

Regarding rheology calculations, the Cement Programme shall include ECD at previous casing shoe at expected circulation rates.

Surface Lines

The Cement Programme shall include a detailed rig up of surface lines, especially wellhead to cement unit, low torque valve, cement lines marked 1,2,…etc.

Time Estimate / Thickening Time

The Cement Programme shall include the time estimate for

  • pumping main slurry
  • pumping tail slurry
  • plug dropping
  • displacement
  • sting out and POOH 500’ above TOC (in liner operation)
  • 20% safety factor
  • contingency
  • total time estimate.

The Cement Programme shall also include the recipe, pumpable time and thickening time.
