A. Planning
Cementing Engineer
1. Ensure cement samples and additives used for testing are representative of the cement to be used for the job.
2. Ensure that adequate cementing products are at the rigsite before running casing.
3. Involved in preparing cementing programme with Halliburton HMD and Drilling Engineer.
4. Halliburton HMD to send a draft programme, no later than 3 days after receiving the well data from Drilling Engineer.
5. Ensure the cementing unit is checked and working.
6. Check silos lines have been cleaned. Transfer from one silo to another two or three times prior to cementing.
7. Check the mix water transfer lines for leaks. All valves off this line should be locked closed.
8. Flush out all the lines to the rig floor and measure the volume of the line from the cement unit to the rig floor.
9. Thoroughly mix each chemical after adding them to the mix water (Drilling Engineer must be present). Take samples of final mix fluids, label and retain for lab verification tests.
Fluids Engineer
10. Provide Drilling Engineer mud rheology data and discuss adjustments to mud required before last trip out of hole.
11. Perform the necessary pilot-testing to obtain the correct rheology of the drilling mud and of the thin mud. Discuss results with the Drilling Engineer.
12. Prepare mud pits (slug pits) for cement job. Check alignment of the lines and status of the valves.
13. Measure volume for all the mud tanks before the start of the job. Confirm with Mud logging Engineer. Report to the Drilling Supervisor.
14. Supervise with Drilling Engineer the efficiency of the mud pumps.
15. Be sure that all valves are in operating status, no leak etc.
Mud Logging Engineer
16. Measure volume for all mud tanks (with sensors) before the start of the job. Confirm/ Compare with Mud Engineer. Report to the Drilling Supervisor.
Drilling Engineer
17. Provides HALLIBURTON with well data 7 days before the planned job.
18. Review cementing programme (rheology slurry and spacers, volumes, etc.) with Halliburton HMD.
19. Ensure cementing programme is distributed 48 hours before planned job.
20. Prepare and send draft “Cementing Instructions” 48 hours before planned job.
21. Prepare and send final Cementing Instructions 24 hours before planned job (in time to be reviewed with the team during the pre-job meeting.
22. Check the quantity of cement products available at rig site.
23. Arrange for mix water, spacers to be prepared while running the production casing. Mix water, spacers MUST be ready by the time the casing is at TD.
Drilling Supervisor
24. Call off a pre-job meeting with the complete team at least 24 hours before the planned job. Review instructions of Drilling Engineer step by step and each individuals’ responsibilities.
25. Arrange for HALLIBURTON equipment to be rigged up 12 hours before job
26. Check Technical water is supplied directly from Water Well. Do not use water from any other source. Control water lines and pump.
27. Check that the following equipment is available at the rigsite 48 hours before the job,: Well control and circulating tool; correct length elevator bails, cementing head etc.
28. During logging check efficiency of mud pumps by transferring a known volume between two tanks.
29. Ensure correct plugs are loaded in the cementing head.
Rig Manager
30. Ensure all the equipment is next to the rig floor ready to be picked up, 24 hours before planned job: Well control and circulating tool; correct length elevator bails, cementing head etc.
31. Ensure the Rig personnel will be available for the job as requested by Drilling Supervisor.
Drilling Superintendent
32. Review/ approve cementing programme and cementing Instructions.
B. Operations
Drilling Supervisor
33. Responsible for the cementing job.
34. On the rig floor during the operations
35. Call off the toolbox meeting on the rig floor prior to the job (while circulating).
36. Ensure that cement job is performed according to the programme & the instructions.
37. Ensure hole is clean before commencing operations.
38. While displacing the slurries, with the Drilling Engineer, Compare “expected pressure” versus “actual pressure” - against volume pumped throughout the job – and notify the Drilling Supervisor immediately in case of discrepancy.
39. Witness and record the number of turns it takes to fully release the plug release pin on the cement head.
40. During the job ensure the team members are informed of the key steps (pump spacers, release plugs, pump slurry, displace slurry, bump).
Cementer
41. On the cementing unit during the operations (except on the floor for operating cementing head)
42. Keep a record of time, pressure and volumes and densities pumped.
43. With the Drilling Engineer, Compare “expected pressure” versus “actual pressure” - against volume pumped throughout the job – and notify the Drilling Supervisor immediately in case of discrepancy.
44. Count displacement tanks (if chase with cementing unit)
45. At the end of the job, give copy of job printout to Drilling Supervisor, Engineer and Superintendent.
Mud Engineer
46. On the mud pits while circulating casing on bottom.
47. Take part in the control of the density measurement (slurry) at cement unit
48. Check rheology of the slurries.
49. Check volume changes and mud returns are consistent with cementing programme. In doubt, inform Drilling Supervisor immediately.
50. Witness mixing of AVA chemicals (if applicable).
51. Make a measurement of mud pits volumes at the start and at the end of the job.
52. Measure mud rheology.
53. Must supervise (responsible) for opening/ closing mud system valves by Derrickman.
54. As soon as the job ends, report to Drilling Supervisor the volume of losses during cementation.
Operations Engineer:
55. On the cementing unit for the duration of the mixing of the slurries and of displacement if done with cement unit (go to rig floor for displacement with rig pumps).
56. Witness/ Check mixing of chemical.
57. Ensure everyone has the latest Cement Job Instructions.
58. Check that both the Mud Loggers and Mud Engineer have accurate records of the pit volumes before commencing the cement job, and that the losses and gains can be monitored accurately during the job.
59. While displacing the slurries, with the Drilling Supervisor, Compare “expected pressure” versus “actual pressure” - against volume pumped throughout the job – and notify the Drilling Supervisor immediately in case of discrepancy.
60. Keep record (every 2 minutes) of time, pressure and volumes pumped.
61. Count displacement tanks (if displacement with cementing unit).
2 Floormen
62. On the mud pits.
63. Follow instructions from mud engineer.
64. Floormen and/or Derrickman to check density of slurries.
Derrickman
65. At the Shale shakers
66. Monitor returns on shale shakers. Keep a log of time and observations.

77. Check that pit volume sensors and totalizers are functioning.

80. As soon as the job ends, report to Drilling Supervisor the volume of losses during cementation.
81. At the end of the job print and give to the Drilling Supervisor and Drilling Engineer a copy of the data log.
