Preparation for Running Casing and Liner:

1. ENSURE that all casing/liner and associated equipment is delivered to the well site allowing sufficient time for preparation prior to running.

2 ENSURE that when racking the casing/liner the pin and box ends are oriented correctly for running. Also check casing grade, weight and size.

IF... mixed strings are required and they cannot be racked separately ensure that the last string of casing/liner to be run is offloaded and racked first

3. BACK OFF the protectors sufficiently to obtain the proper measuring point after each row is laid out.

4. Drift casing/liner with appropriate drift.  Remove any bad joints off the rack.

5. MEASURE the casing/liner (to be done independently by two responsible persons). COMPARE both tallies to ensure that there are no differences in excess of 0.2ft on any one joint after measuring each layer.

If the tallies do not agree,re-measure the conflicting pipe

6. When measurement of the casing/liner has been completed - COUNT the total number of joints and compare this number with the pipe tally and shipping manifest. SUM all columns on the pipe tally sheet and confirm the total length with the independent tally. As an additional check CALCULATE the average joint length. MAKEUP a Pipe Tally Sheet.

7. VERIFY that there is sufficient casing/liner at the wellsite to reach the required casing/liner setting depth. VERIFY that sufficient quantity of each string is available for mixed casing/liner strings, also.

In general, 10% excess casing/liner shall be available on site to account for casing/liner damaged in transit and geological uncertainty. BACK UP shoe and float collars shall also be available.

8. CHECK the weight, grade and connections of all casing/liner and accessories are correct as specified in the drilling programme.

9. VERIFY that there are sufficient casing/liner pups at the wellsite for spacing out.

For surface wellheads, two casing/liner pups of 5', 10' and 15' lengths shall typically be provided

10. CLEAN, CHECK and LUBRICATE all threads, thoroughly.

11. ENSURE the thread protectors are clean and REINSTALL on the pin and box ends (hand tight).  Use rubber clamps as protectors.

12. PREPARE the final Running List which will show:

where centralisers are to be installed

exactly which joints are to be run and which joints are to be excluded

the placement of the guide shoe, float collar and any other special casing/liner equipment

the appropriate length of landing string to be calculated to ensure a safe working height for the cement head.

Note: When preparing the running list, it is important to specify the position of accessories separately from the joints to which           they are attached to avoid confusion over exact location.

Additional Preparations for Running Liner

1. TEST the cement head to the required pressure and prior to cementing.

2. ENSURE that the top of the PBR extension is not damaged

3 .ENSURE that the shear out in the landing collar and hanger pin are correctly pinned and that the ball is compatible with the seat

4. ENSURE that the drill pipe wiper plug and liner wiper plug are compatible with other.

5. MAKE UP hanger, PBR extension and running tool on drill pipe and set back and make sure running tool and drill pipe is drifted properly.

6. MAKE UP cement head on to drill pipe and install the drill pipe wiper plug and make sure cement manifold is drifted properly.
